I stopped treating every session like I need to set a PR. Now I manage my volume, leave a rep or two in reserve on most big lifts, and take an easier week when fatigue starts piling up. I'm making better progress because I'm not constantly trying to recover from my own workouts.

Walking on rest days helps me loosen up without adding more fatigue. Nothing crazy, just getting outside and moving a little. 🚶‍♂️

I make sure I'm eating enough, especially protein and carbs around my workouts. When I undereat, my lifts feel heavier than they should, and I have no gas in the tank by the end of the week.

Getting 7–9 hours of sleep is a game changer. My workouts feel way better when I'm actually rested. 😴

One thing I’ve learned from lifting is that progress doesn’t come from smashing every workout and hoping for the best. You can have the perfect split and push some serious weight, but if your recovery is trash, eventually your performance is going to take a hit. I’m trying to build a routine that keeps me strong, energized, and ready to hit the gym week after week without feeling completely cooked.
For me, recovery is about more than just taking a rest day. Sleep, nutrition, managing training volume, getting enough steps, and knowing when to back off all play a role. I’m curious what other lifters do to stay consistent through busy weeks, heavy training blocks, and those days when motivation is low. What recovery habits have actually made a difference for you? 🔥
